Goon takes all

NAR Nar Goon celebrated a top weekend with good wins in all grades against Nyora.

A GRADE

Nar Nar Goon had a great first half and an 18goal lead at halftime, but in a lacklustre second half the Goon could not increase the margin.
Nyora stayed focused all game, never relenting, and the Goon lacked intensity most of the second half.
Narelle Walker filled in at goal defence, allowing Sam Hodge and Meg Evans to play half a game in preparation for their State League match on Saturday night.

B GRADE

In a slow start by the Goon the wind threw the golaers off their game.
With strong defensive games from Cassie McMillan and Raynie Armstrong the attack end improved. Pressure and strong defence from Taren O’Brien, Abby Noonan and Jessica Fry throughout the midcourt contributed to the Goon coming away with the win. It was close all through and the Goon did well to keep their cool in the dying minutes.

C GRADE

Nar Nar Goon played well under windy conditions showing great defensive pressure in all positions to take a great win.

17 AND UNDER

The Goon proved too strong for Nyora. All players worked hard, passing well and defending beautifully. Ruby Riley and Georgia Keysers stepped up from the under 13s and looked comfortable among Dgrade players, Keysers passing beautifully into goals and Riley goaling well.

15 AND UNDER

Nyora scored the first few goals while the Goon took a while to find momentum. Sinead Scanlon was required to play many different positions and stepped into each with great confidence. Ashlee Dore was strong in goals and through the centre court, while Chantelle Joosten was dominant at goalkeeper. After a slow start the Goon came back strongly and progressed toward a good win with a fine effort.

13 AND UNDER

Nar Nar Goon was able to implement new systems all over the court and the players worked together beautifully. The goalers combined well and shot accurately in the windy conditions. With this fine win the Goon managed to secure top spot.
