Graeme ‘steels’ for a win

GRAEME Steel enjoyed the good conditions at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday, shooting an excellent pluseight to win the par event
Second was Mason Shadwell +4 (Agrade winner) and Fred Uini +4 (Cgrade winner).
The C.C.R. was 69 and 150 players gained some practice for the tournament this week.
Down the lines went to Bob Dowse +6, Clint Sezney +6, Danny Collins +6, Ivan Katta +5, Marcus Cameron +4, Bryan Delaney +4, Mark Bell +4, Doug Law +3, Frank Morris +3, Chris Underwood +3, Ray Milnes, Barrie Seldon, Ron Miller, Colin Crowle, Rob Sandiford, Ian Graham, Mike McKenna, Paul Hobson, Bob Scullion, Bryan Clydesdale, Stuart Hare, George Coffey, Clint Raven all +2, Phil Tunstall, Chris Lim, Fergus O’Gallagher, Geoff Percival and Gary Bau all +1.
Nearest the pin on the golf shop second hole was won by Dan Cameron. The Pakenham Subway fifth hole went to Scott Hooper and the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole saw Cliff Pain the winner.
Keith Massey took out the Hungry Jack’s 14th hole and the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole went to Paul Hobson. Mason Shadwell won the B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth.
The B.M.R Autos Agrade longest drive went to Scott Milnes with B grade going to Shane Wilkinson.
The McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive saw Roland Dean the winner.
Bill Toogood and Hugh Westmorland were the raffle winners.

This week is the tournament – ladies fourballbestball on Wednesday, ladies day on Thursday, men’s fourballbestball on Friday, men’s stroke day on Saturday and the mixed Canadian on Sunday.
The following week sees the November monthly medal sponsored by Peter Holland Concrete.

There were 44 players in the Monday Stableford competition and Rodney Park came in with 43 points to win from Ken Marker with 42 points.
Down the lines went to Scott Milnes 41, Brian Doherty 40, Andrew Villinger 40, Bob Morrison 38, Doug Booth 38, Tasi Taito 38 and David McArthur 36.
Brian Webster was the winner of the nearest the pin on the eighth hole and the 14th went to Scott Milnes.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TUESDAY CUP DAY COMPETITION

There were 37 players that took advantage of the Cup Day holiday to have a round of golf prior to watching the race.
Winner of the Stableford competition was Geoffrey Percival with 45 points from Rob Wedlock 44.
Down the lines saw Ray Hewitt 43, Anthony Lillis 43, Des Reuben 38, Michael Neylan 37, Ross MacLean 37, Tony Colvin 37 and Rick Gibbs 37 the winners.
Bernie Gramc won nearest the pin on the eighth hole and Tony Colin took out the 14th.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY COMPETITION

Colin Crowle won on a countback from Heath Barclay, both coming in with 42 Stableford points.
John King won a glove for third by coming in with 40 points.
Down the lines went to Robert White 38, Denby Coggan 37, Greg Roberts 37, Ron Horne 37, John Kingman 37, Joseph Brennan 37 and Ron Carroll 36.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was won by Ron Carroll and the 14th hole went to John Roberts.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT COMPETITION

The twilight competition for 2005/2006 has started with hit off times from 3pm every Wednesday evening during daylight saving.
It’s a chance to enjoy nine holes of golf and then a meal in the clubhouse at the completion of the round. Non members and those without handicap are welcome.
Family and friends are also welcome.
Seventy players competed in the twilight competition last Wednesday evening and the winner was Ken McIntyre with 24 points from John King with 23.
Down the lines went to Bob White 21, Paul Timewell 21, Heath Barclay 21, Martin Spurway 21, Peter Wigney 20, Patrick Duane 20, Al Campbell 20, Ron Carroll 19, Bob Morrison 19 and Graeme McQualter 19.
Scott Phillips was the winner of the nearest the pin (second shot) on the seventh hole and Graeme McQualter took out the eighth hole.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES

Thursday started out with the threat of thunderstorms and lightning, but by hitoff time the skies had cleared and 50 hitoff for the annual Oaks Day golf day.
Visitors from clubs near and far all enjoyed the day.
Winners were Marg Turner and Val Carroll who came in with a great score of 50 points. They each took home a rose bush for their gardens.
Runnersup were Marg Jackson and Norma Gasgard with 45 points.
The best nine out went to A Shepherd and B Marshall with 24 points and the best nine in saw S. King and L. Mathews the winners with 23 points.
Nearest the pin on the second went to Marg Turner and the eighth to Fay Barnes. Robyn Jenner took out the 14th hole.
Downtheline balls saw Libby De Hey/Robyn Jenner, Rena Bueler/Jan Creagh, Ann Bell/Marion Lloyd, Jean Hoare/Pat Salau, Lyn Murray/Liz Garvey and Lorraine Molnar/Dawn Van Roy the winners.
The hat competition was held again this year and the judges had a hard decision in both categories.
The winner of the conventional hat was Lyn Murray with a fascinator that she made herself.
Marg Blake, as always, came up with another great idea to win the novelty hat section. She went for the ‘Fashions on the Field’ idea and had dressed up four dolls in the height of fashion, including hatpins, feathers etc.
The raffle winners included three visitors.
Everyone had an enjoyable day and the club and Lulla Bishop were thanked for the prizes.
