Hot pair wins winter cup

BOB Priestley and Garry Baldwin played a top final to win the winter cup at Beaconhills Country Golf Club on Saturday, 3 September.
The fourballbetterball matchplay knockout began in July with Bob and Garry defeating Michael Utting and Stuart Semmens in the close final 2/1.
The remainder of the field played stroke and those on the Lakes course played for the monthly medal.
However this could not be awarded as five players came in with nett 66 the best score of the day.
Ron Cook was the Agrade winner on a countback, Alex McKay and Glen Dolenc in Bgrade and Mick Martin in C grade on a countback and Gordon Mackenzie.
They will now all play off in October to decide the medal winner.
Tim Angwin shot the best gross score for the day, one over 70, while the junior winner was Noah Kolmus with nett 30.
On the alternate course Matt Cornthwaite was the competition winner with nett 70.

SUNDAY RESULTS
Father’s Day was a Stableford competition on the Lakes course.
Tony Fry was the Agrade winner with a score of 42 point and Andy Hill was the winner of B grade on a countback with 40 points.

TUESDAY RESULTS
Play reverted back to the Old Course and Josh Ackaoui was the winner of the stroke competition with nett 66, while Dennis Crowley was the runner up on a countback with nett 67 from Roy Solomon and John Ackaoui, Josh’s dad.

WEDNESDAY RESULTS
Ladies day was a par competition and Marg Rice was the winner with one down.
Nearestthepin winners were Bron Robbins on the sixth and Pauline Tucker on the 15th, while the propin winners were Annie Madigan for A grade and Elaine Newman for B grade.

THURSDAY RESULTS
This was Stableford on the Old course.
Scott Ramsay won a grade with 42 points and Malcolm Algie returned back for a game from Cranbourne and won B grade on a countback with 40 points.

LADIES SCRAMBLE
Friday the ladies played host to the Ladies Holden Scramble.
Twenty teams competed in the Ambrose event and the winning team was Sally Kunz, Paula Rae and Elaine Newman with nett 74.
Nearestthepin winners were Sharon Davd from Cerberus on the sixth, Greta deHoogd from Beaconhills on the 13th and Jane Thorwesten from BerwickMontuna on the 15th.
The winning team will now play in the state final at Eagle Ridge with club professional Mark Griffin in October.

BEACONHILLS’ TOP TEAM
The Mornington Peninsula Ladies Country Team competed this week at Spring Valley and Yarra Yarra Golf Clubs against other country teams from across the state.
Laura Griffin and Ann Felgate (team captain) represented Beaconhills.
The team finished the tournament in second place, with the North Eastern District taking the top place.
Laura had a great tournament winning two matches, drawing one and losing one.
