THE search for Cardinia Shire’s new chief executive officer will soon begin in earnest.
Emerald Ward councillor Graeme Legge last week won colleagues’ approval for a motion that council begin the process of appointing a new CEO after adopting its budget for the new financial year.
The council appointed general manager of corporate services Garry McQuillan to act as CEO in the wake of the departure of Don Welsh earlier this year.
Cr Legge commended Mr McQuillan on his performance as acting chief executive. But he said it was important council acted to end uncertainty surrounding the position to “ensure the wellbeing of the organisation”.
The council is due to finalise its budget in the next several weeks.
