A LATE secondquarter lapse proved costly for Pakenham seniors, going down to Narre Warren by 37 points on Saturday.
Coming off its second victory of the season the previous week, there was an air of confidence in the Pakenham side against the highly fancied Narre Warren.
The Lions matched their opponents for majority of the game but a 10minute lapse leading up to halftime saw Narre Warren kick five unanswered goals.
To Narre Warren’s credit, it never let Pakenham get back in to the game. Jared Goldsack was his evasive self and gathered many possessions.
The game from the young cubs was inspiring with Casey Cherry being asked to play on the opposition’s key forward Lee Clark and did well and Ian Mortimer, once on the ground, showed he is capable of playing at the higher level.
Chad Shooter returned to the senior line up and showed he is back to his best form.

RESERVES
With a couple of name players returning to the side, Pakenham looked like taking it up to Narre Warren going in to the main break only a couple of goals down.
However in the second half Narre Warren kicked 14 goals to Pakenham’s one to record a 95point victory.
Michael Hicks played a great game in defence, while Joel Lenders and Brian Cook had plenty of the football in the middle.
Both Darren Boyd and Chad Ambrose returned to the side and played solid games. Paul Gramc and Chris Millidonis both showed glimpses, kicking two goals each.

Pakenham battled hard all day against Narre Warren, but was convincingly beaten by 193 points.
Barry Donaldson played his best game for the Lions and was judged best afield. Brad Collett, Jon Higgins, Dom Paynter, Brodie Weightman and Chris Higgins toiled hard to try and stop the onslaught of goals.
