New committee takes over

BERWICK Senior Citizens elected its committee for 200506 on Friday.
Lorna Bird was elected president, Erica Albert vicepresident, Betty Broderick secretary, Lucy Dickinson assistant secretary and Verna Thewlis treasurer.
Members on the other committee are Neville Bradley, Hilda Boening, David Clark, Val Di Carlo, Juliet Carreck, Gwen Metz and Ian Wollerman.
Frank Cranston was thanked for his years of service as president.
Bingo was played on Friday and the winners were David Clark, Betty Broderick, Dorothy Shepherd, Lorna Bird, Val Di Carlo, Elsie Draude, George Sturgeon, Vera Giles and Elle Mathieson. Audrey Appleyard and David Clark each won two games.
The club celebrated its 40th birthday last week with Joyce Cranston cutting a lovely birthday cake made and donated by Gwen Metz.
Sarah Di Carlo and her sister Danielle, who are on holidays from St Margaret’s school, helped with the meals and proved very popular with members.
Bill Brown celebrated his birthday. Return member Alice Haynes was welcomed back.
Sick members are Dot Barnes, Don Trigg, Roy Barker, John and Joyce Ashworth, Bev Coffey, Barbara Bartrop and Frank and Marg Pickering. Terri Ekkel is in Kingston Hospital.
The door prizes went to Nora Todd and Betty Arnott.
Tatts went to Erica Albert and Elsie Draude with number four and Audrey Appleyard had one number 33 with the other 33 not yet claimed.
The meat tray went to Peg Paproth and the voucher was won by Lorna Bird.
Line dancing is every Tuesday at 1.30pm and Tai Chi at 10am each Tuesday. Old time dancing is held every Thursday at 12.30pm.
Club day is every Friday and new members are made welcome.
