A NEW chairman has been appointed to the Water Resources Committee of the Victorian Farmers Federation.
Tallygaroopna dairy farmer Geoff Akers will chair the eleven strong boyy which recommends water policy for the VLE.
Mr Akers will also sit as a member of the VFF Policy Council.
He has experience in representing dairyfarmers and water users.
For the past eight years Mr Akers has successfully represented northern Victorian farmers on the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria central council, and was chairman of the Board of Murray Dairy between 1998 and 2002.
Mr Akers has also served on the Sustaining Our Natural Resources steering committee.
Mr Akers’s experience within the VFF Katandra/ Invergordon Branch, on the UDV central council and on the Murray Dairy board have provided many opportunities for dealing with dry land and irrigated farming issues.
