Teenager Paul powers to monthly medal win

SIXTEENyearold Paul Carmody shot an excellent nett 62 to win the monthly medal at Garfield Golf Club on Saturday.
Paul, who in the past month has reduced his handicap by seven shots, has won three Saturday Cgrade events and two Thursday twilight competitions.
Another exciting youngster Eric Harvie took out our Thursday competition.

Cgrade: Paul Carmody 62 (handicap 21), Bgrade: Russell Quigley 63 (20) on a countback, Agrade: Danny La Franz 63, Chris Davies 64.
Gavan McMillan 64, Graeme Thorpe 64, Dave Lawler 65, Arti Koopman 65, Ashley Wright 65, Clinton Smith 65, Tom Cleary 65 and Gerry Vandenessen 65.
Nearest the pins: fourth: Bill Low, eighth: Geoff Roberts, ninth: Steve Clark, 11th: Steve Kohut, 14th: Clinton Smith, 16th: Rick Falcone.
Fifth hole, second shot: Gary Scholes, seventh hole, second shot: Gavan McMillan.
Dave Lawler scored an eagle on the first hole, ladies top scorer was Jenny Mitchell with 71 on a countback and the raffle winner was Nick Gaal.

THURSDAY RESULTS

Eric Harvie 63, Andy Rose, Geoff Roberts 64.
Thursday twilight Stableford, Dale Clark 22 and Terry Webster 21.
Ladies: Olga Pearson 21 and Sharon Carmody 20.
Nearest the pin on the fourth was Phil Barling and on the eighth was Terry Webster.

Summer competition scores after three rounds are Paul Carmody 130, Terry Lacey 123, Barry Davidson 122, Mick Otene 121, Rod Norton 118, Darren Kasper 118, Mick Howson 118, Glen Wells 117, John Blair 117, Carl Waters 115, Leslie Royking 115 and Craig Hunter 115.
Next week is round four.
At the presentations on Saturday night president Gary Kelly paid tribute to staff and volunteers for maintaining the course to such a high level during the recent harsh weather conditions.
