WORK by multimedia artist MichalaJane Hitchcock and ceramic artist Danielle Radivo is on display in the Casey Civic Centre Art Space, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, until Monday 30 October.
The exhibitions are titled All Woman, and Floral and Felines
All Woman is an exhibition of abstract mixed media works by Narre Warren artist MichalaJane Hitchcock, which she calls “an exhibition of selfexpression of my inner feelings and concerns for the environment, as well as my passions in life”.
Ms Hitchcock is completing her final year of a fine arts degree and this is her first exhibition.
Her love of textiles and art, and her passion for the environment and recycling come together in her stunning visual creations.
The material used in her art ranges from household paints, nail polish, glass paints, tissue paper, string, bits of nature, newspaper, plastics bottles, polyfiller and buttons, to create dimension as well as texture.
Alongside the All Woman exhibition is Floral and Felines, a collection of handpainted ceramic wares by Berwick artist Danielle Radivo.
Ms Radivo established her own business and home studio Denny Art in 1999, and her latest exhibition features decorative and functional ceramic wares, which are painted individually with themes such as cats and floral motifs.
“The inspiration for painting cats on my ceramic pieces comes from observing these felines in their daily activities,” Ms Radivo said. “Cat lovers are often amused by the humour in these pieces.”
Ms Radivo is also exhibiting her floral collection, which is best represented by her black and white sgraffito roses, a hallmark of her ceramic work.
