Inner Wheel District A62 outgoing chairman Merle McCubbin, of Berwick, and incoming chairman Margaret Heslin, of Warragul, welcomed 126 members and guests to the 10th annual changeover dinner of Inner Wheel District A62 at Danny’s, Warragul, on Saturday 2 July.
Each of the 17 district clubs was represented.
This covered an area from the Mornington Peninsula in the west to Bairnsdale in the east and Foster and Phillip Island in the south.
Also present were seven of the 10 district past chairmen.
Inner Wheel Australia president Carolyn Brown proposed a toast to International Inner Wheel.
She touched on many of the projects undertaken by Inner Wheel clubs locally, nationally and internationally.
Mrs McCubbin spoke of the many friendships she had made visiting many of the district clubs.
She also spoke of the money raised by District clubs for projects such as the Coin for Cord ($16,237), Clown Doctors (more than $10,000) and the Tsunami Appeal, for which $2300 was raised at district level as well as significant contributions by individual Inner Wheel clubs to the Rotary Shelter Box Project.
In recognition of the 10th anniversary of the district, chairman Margaret presented a certificate of recognition and a red rose to each of the past District A62 chairmen present.
Those in attendance were: Kathy Humphris (19951996), Diana Nutter (19981999); Loris Begg (20002001); Lorraine Edlington (20012002); Carolyn Brown (20022003); Pat Puddy (20032004); and Merle McCubbin (20042005).
