ST ANDREWS Uniting Church, Berwick, has launched a history of the High Street church.
The book ‘St Andrews Uniting Church, Berwick — A Celebrated History’ was researched and written by parishioner Russell Patterson.
Included in the book is work of the late Reverend John Lloyd, who prepared a booklet on the centenary celebration in 1957.
Mr Patterson has expanded upon this work.
The Patterson family came to the Berwick district in 1918 when Thomas Patterson bought 265 acres at the end of Thompsons Road on Cardinia Creek.
The family has since been active in the church.
Historian Elizabeth Whiteside said the book allowed for reflection and gave hope for the future.
The book is dotted with photographs from the earliest days of Berwick and creates nostalgia even for those not connected with the church. The book is available from the church, 105 High Street, Berwick. Phone 9707 2419.
