A great day for the Goon

NAR Nar Goon Netball Club ruled the court on Saturday in round five, downing Lang Lang in all grades.
It was the first win for C grade with all others remaining undefeated for the season.

A GRADE

With Nar Nar Goon finding it difficult to move the ball offensively in the first half, Lang Lang kept a close margin.
With a few positional changes after halftime, Nar Nar Goon settled and began to move the ball well into the ring.
It was a very strong game defensively from Nar Nar Goon with many turnovers resulting in goals.
Best on court went to Sam Hodge for a strong defensive game with special mention to Meg Evans and Rebecca Murphy for their accurate goaling.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 54 d Lang Lang 32.
Best: Sam Hodge.

B GRADE

Nar Nar Goon won a hardfought battle against a muchimproved Lang Lang side.
Its defence was very strong with its best on court going to Raynie Armstrong and Cassie McMillan who took some great intercepts and rebounds.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 35 d Lang Lang 29.
Best: Cassie McMillan and Raynie Armstrong.

C GRADE

The Goon was an impressive winner for its first game this season, playing an excellent game for four quarters against a very determined Lang Lang.
Captain Cassa Fry played a top game in goals and was capably assisted by Kate Marquis and Deanna Gallasch.
Bianca Bow was a steading influence in the midcourt with great feeding into the ring and the defenders turned over the ball many times.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 29 d Lang Lang 24.
Best: Cassa Fry.

17 AND UNDER

All Goon team members contributed to a strong victory against Lang Lang.
The Goon made many changes throughout the game and each team member adapted well, swapping defenders and attackers from their usual positions.
Gwen Jones took out best on court this week for her strong presence and drive in the midcourt, taking many intercepts.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 44 d Lang Lang 9.
E & C Joinery best player award: Gwen Jones.

15 AND UNDER

Nar Nar Goon played a strong game against a persistent Lang Lang side and was able to withstand continued changes due to injury and maintain its consistency.
Georgia Keysers starred at goal defence and Ashlee Dore showed her class as goaler with accurate shooting and great movement around the court.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 33 d Lang Lang 13.
Best: Georgia Keysers and Ashlee Dore.

13 AND UNDER

The Goon played a very competitive game all day and many changes in defence and attack saw the girls adjust well and convert the play to the team’s advantage.
Hannah Rice played a strong game in many positions and her determination ensured positive outcomes for the Goon.
Scores: Nar Nar Goon 21 d Lang Lang 13.
Best: Hannah Rice.

CLUB NOTES

The club asks people to start putting their outfits together for the biggest night on the Goon social calendar to be held after round 11 on 24 June – the Op Shop Formal Cocktail Night.
