BEACONSFIELD Post Office has been named the best in regional Australia.
Australia Post’s general manager presented a National Excellence Awards certificate last week to the licensees.
Keith and Leonie Norman said they were thrilled to receive the award, having taken over the post office only 18 months ago.
“Leonie and I both come from a sales background, so we knew that in order to make a success of the business we would have to first find out what our customers wanted, then give it to them,” Mr Norman said.
“Our initiatives have been so successful that business is booming. We just put in another 70 post office boxes to keep up with demand.”
The award comes after the couple four months ago won the Victorian Licensed Post Office of the Year award.
“I also have to give some of the credit for our success to our family who all pitch in with the running of the post office, and the loyal support from the local community,” Mr Norman said.
“We undertook a complete interior shop re-fit that helped us to increase the product range so that we could provide local businesses with the products they wanted to buy.”
Mr Norman said he and his wife planned to stay at the post office for a lot longer to keep improving.
“The fun bit about the job is meeting different people in the community,” he said.
