PAKENHAM’S Antique Fair has raised more than $10,000 in muchneeded funds for charity.
And its booming success has organisers considering holding two events next year.
More than 1500 people attended the antique fair, organised by the 4C’s (Cardinia Combined Churches Caring) Food Bank.
Food bank coordinator Jeni Mathieson said that, in its third year, the fair was going from strength to strength.
“It was a really good day, the weather held out which was wonderful and the Pakenham Racecourse was an ideal venue,” she said.
“There is so much interest in it, the day ran really smoothly and we are already fully booked for next year.
“We might have to run two fairs next year, although so much work goes into it and we are a volunteer organisation so we will have to see it goes. But we’re really happy,” Mrs Mathieson said.
A total of 37 stallholders from around Victoria displayed wares ranging from glassware, china and pottery and a huge range of other antique items at the fair which ran from 9am to 4pm.
Antique expert David Freeman conducted valuations in the afternoon.
Mrs Mathieson said Mr Freeman valued about 170 items brought in by visitors to the fair, with many surprised by how much their family heirlooms and other old goods were worth.
“There were quite a few oohs and aahs. Some people were quite surprised,” she said.
The 4C’s distributes food and other support services to a growing number of clients around Cardinia Shire.
