BEACONSFIELD Superules recently held its club presentation night at the Pine Grove Hotel in Upper Beaconsfield. The highlight of the night was club’s the first life membership, which was awarded to Andrew Gubbins, the main trainer at Beaconsfield for the past three years and before that with founding club Noble Park.
Gubbins has given up his weekends freely for the past 10 seasons and it was a fitting reward to be made the first life member.
The first division bestandfairest award was won by Grant Sloan, who had an outstanding season, while runnerup was Pat McGavigan.
Other firstdivision awards handed out on the night were for most consistent player (won by Mark Turner) and the goalkicking award (Brett Dunne).
In third division it was decided to strike the bestandfairest award in the name of William ‘Bill’ Flight, who was one of the founders of the Noble Park Superules club and had a big influence on the relocation to Beaconsfield.
Best and fairest in third division was Mathew Gubbins, while the runnerup award went to the third division coach Gary Valentine. The most consistent award went to Peter Lowe while the goal kicking award went to Mathew Gubbins.
Beaconsfield Superules will be holding its annual meeting on Wednesday, 9 November at the Beaconsfield Social Club at 7.30pm and all are welcome.
