Beacy Superules team wins well

BEACONSFIELD’S firstdivision Superules side turned on an impressive display of wet weather football to account for Marcellin in last weekend’s round.
In what was suppose to be a danger game for Beaconsfield with captain Van Den Berghe, Dunne, McGavigan and Wright out through injuries or work commitments, turned out to be a walk in the park.
Sutherland was again the dominant player on the field, kicking seven goals for the game with one magical Daicoslike goal and another that the Socceroos would have been impressed with.
Marcellin started the game well, adjusting to the conditions better than Beaconsfield and posting the first goal. Beaconsfield responded quickly through Sutherland, who kicked two quick goals in succession to give Beaconsfield a onegoal lead at the end of the first term.
With rain continuing to fall during the second term Marcellin was dogged in their attempts to slow the game and continued to dive on the ball. Beaconsfield was unable to play their usual freerunning style. Finally Sutherland and Sheedy posted goals to go in at halftime two goals up.
In the third term Beaconsfield started to run and create passages of play that they are more accustomed to. Mickelburough from halfback was relentless in his attack on the football and sent Beaconsfield into attack on numerous occasions. Studham at centre halfback was playing a solid game and was changing in the ruck, giving Wilson a breather for his efforts.
Abel was creative on the wing and posted Beaconsfield first goal for the term and then Sutherland and Turner both posted goals for the term things were not looking good for Marcellin.
The final term was a goal frenzy for Beaconsfield.
The midfield of Wilson, Hamilton, Sloan and McKenna took control and continually sent Beaconsfield into attack.
Beaconsfield went on to kick six goals for the term, three by Sutherland in an impressive display while Sloan, Ward and Abel also kicked one apiece. Davine, who normally plays in the back line, enjoyed his time up forward.
New player Michael Granieri, a 300game player from Gembrook, was also a welcome inclusion, adding another dimension to the roving brigade and will be better for the run over the next couple of matches.
Scores: Beaconsfield 13.14.92 d Marcellin 3.5.23.
Goals: Sutherland 7, Abel 2, Sheedy, Sloan, Turner, Ward 1.
Best: Sutherland, Hamilton, Studham, Mickelburough, Turner.
