Berwick rules the rinks

A GREAT day of bowls for round nine of the pennant season saw six of Berwick’s seven pennant sides recording a win for the round on Saturday.
The competition is starting to heat up and at this stage of the season there are three Berwick sides on top of the ladder.
Berwick number-one, number four and number six are the sides to watch at this stage of the competition with the Berwick number-five side knocking on the door for second place on the ladder in its section.
The number-six side pulled off a great win over Edithvale, but unfortunately the number-two side suffered a big loss at the hands of a strong Mordialloc side.
The best winning RVBA side was Berwick number-six side with 62 shots up. Rink of the day was Berwick number-six team of B. Gates (s) J. Crozier, T. Livingstone, T. Harrison, with a 19-shot win.

LADIES

The eighth round of pennant matches was played on Tuesday, 15 November, but unfortunately only three teams completed matches due to inclement weather. Berwick (1) (A1 Section 7) had a drawn game against Keysborough (1) where the greens were closed.
Berwick (2) (A1 Section 8) played Dandenong Club 1 at home and won with 16 shots up. The final score was 92-76. Berwick (3) (A2 Section 8) had a home match against Burden Park (2) and was down by eight shots. The final score was 94-102.
Berwick (4) (B1 Section 8) was defeated in an away match against Brighton Beach/ Tennis (2) by six shots. The final score was 86-92.

VLBA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

A large number of spectators witnessed the high standard of bowling displayed in the semi-final of the VLBA Club Championship played on Thursday, 17 November.
The winners were Jean Reddy in her match against Kath Macqueen 25-17 and Barbara Dupe won her game against Joy Burns 25-19. The finals will be played on Sunday, 20 November.
