VISITORS to Bunyip Primary School last Wednesday were confronted by a very interesting sight.
Children were going about their learning programs with their usual enthusiasm, but were dressed in a most unusual way.
Characters including Harry Potter and his famous friends, Snow White and a class of dwarfs, Willy Wonka, Specky Magee and a lot of other strange and interesting book personalities were the star attractions of the school’s Book Week parade.
Bunyip Primary School teachers said literature appreciation was a vital part of the successful reading and library programs at the school and to celebrate the joy that books could bring, the grade five and six children organised, promoted and managed a wholeschool ‘dress up day’ as the feature event for Book Week.
A special parade was held in the morning and prizes were awarded to the bestdressed student in each class.
Staff members also joined the theme for the day, dressing to impress.
Teachers said it was a great day, and everyone had a lot of fun.
Reading at Bunyip Primary School may never be the same again.
