BERWICK Village Chamber of Commerce has invited young women to be part of the 2006 Grand Prix season.
Chamber president Michael Hall said the girls would be part of the 2006 Berwick Grand Prix Grid Girls competition, a feature of the chamber’s gala night on Tuesday 14 March at the Central Star Auto Haus Mercedes Benz Showroom.
Mr Hall said the event would raise funds for the chamber’s 2007 Grand Prix Festival and the St John of God Hospital.
Former champion racing car driver Allan Moffatt will be guest speaker at the gala night.
“Guests will be hosted by the 20 Grid Girl finalists and will have the privilege of picking the winner, who will go on to represent Berwick in the Australian Grand Prix Search for a Grid Girl competition,” Mr Hall said.
“The winner will also receive a Nokia phone and Beach Pack from Cell to Cell communications and, together with the second and third place getters, receive a range of other delightful prizes worth thousands of dollars.”
The competition is open to women 18 years and over.
Mr Hall said guests at the gala night would experience the excitement of the chamber’s fund raising auction with the chance to bid for a range of unique and interesting motor racing and other sports memorabilia.
“The night is widely supported by chamber members and local businesses donating cash and goods, for which we are most grateful.”
“The support of local business people for this event is most important, for the chamber to build on the success of last year’s Grand Prix Festival and to deliver an even bigger and better event in 2007.
