CHAIRMAN of the Emerald Tourist Railway Board Graeme Breydon has been awarded the prestigious Australasian Railway Association 2005 Rail Industry Individual Award for Excellence.
Mr Breydon was presented with his award at the AusRAIL Gala dinner held at the Westin Hotel in Sydney earlier this month.
The award recognises Mr Breydon’s work as the convenor of the Safety Committee of the Association of Tourist and Heritage Rail Australia.
The committee’s primary role in the past year has been to assist the development of national legislation, regulation and codes of practice for safety in the rail industry.
“I am proud and honoured to receive this award on behalf of all heritage and tourist railways in Australia,” Mr Breydon said.
He has been a member of the Emerald Tourist Railway Board, the operator of Puffing Billy, since 1989 and the board chairman since 2000.
