KEEP Australia Beautiful Victoria has commended the City of Casey for winning the Clean Site Program Support Award.
The award is for leading the way in pollution, litter abatement and resource recovery at home building sites.
Due to Casey’s support of the Clean Site program, the longstanding figure of 30 per cent of all landfill coming from the construction and demolition sector is now being reduced and creeks and rivers are becoming healthier.
Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria chief executive Andrew McLorinan said Casey’s commitment to reducing the impacts of construction activity was exceptionally strong.
He said pollution and litter from building sites in Casey had been reduced and aid the reduction would continue.
“Other councils have followed Casey’s lead in supporting the Clean Site program and its goals,” he said.
The recovered materials are recycled into a variety of products, such as ballpoint pens, clothes pegs and garden mulch.
