STAR Makeover winner Colleen Tancredi has tackled her physical training and healthy eating routine head on.
After two training sessions with personal trainer and nutritionist Amanda Dean, Colleen has already lost half a kilogram, two centimetres off her hips and one centimetre off her waist.
Her body fat percentage has also decreased 1.2 per cent.
“The training has been hard but fun,” Colleen said. “On the other days I’m trying to do stuff we can do as family.
“When I go to the park with the kids I see if there’s something I can do as well.
“On Sunday I took them to the pool and did some laps while I was there.”
Colleen, 35, has a threeday eating plan with strict recipes and is limited to 1400 calories on the other four days.
“I’m not allowed any white bread,” she said. “I only make it for the kids.
“At first I found it hard to stop eating at 7pm. I’ve gone beyond that now. I guess when you eat less your body needs less.”
She said after overcoming the first couple of days of feeling hungry she was now enjoying her new recipes.
“One day we had pancakes but with wheatgerm,” she said.
“But doing the supermarket shopping took about two hours. There were so many things we didn’t have.”
Anything Colleen eats or drinks goes into a journal she is keeping, which also records her daily exercise.
Amanda said Colleen would mostly focus on cardio training, with some weights training.
She said Colleen had done well in her first two training sessions and was impressed by her weight loss.
“I imagine next week’s results will be even better. We are aiming for one kilogram or more next week.”
Amanda said the first couple of days on the eating plan Colleen had started to feel hungry but she guessed that was mostly habit eating.
She said she would continue to assess Colleen’s eating plan and see how she was going with her exercise.
“If she is training fairly hard we will look at upping her calories.”
