NEW classrooms at the Village Campus of Beaconhills College in Kangan Drive, Berwick, are well on the way to completion.
The building is expected to be open in time for the next school year.
Beaconhills College headmaster Tony Sheumack said the school was continuing to grow with the further development of new classrooms and purpose-built facilities to meet the needs of the college community.
Mr Sheumack said Beaconhills was constructing stage four at its Village Campus, which included 12 new classrooms, computer labs, staff and student amenities and an extensive art and technology building.
He said the cost of the works was in excess of $3 million.
“The Village Campus of Beaconhills at Berwick will have a further 200 new enrolments in 2006, bringing its total school population to 1040,” Mr Sheumack said.
“The educational program provided for 2006 will be from years preparatory to year 10.
“Each year the campus will expand to become a full preparatory to year 12 college in 2008.
“Construction of stage four represents another milestone in the school’s brief history.
“The campus started in 2003 with 360 students in preparatory to year seven and in three years the student population reached more than 1000.
“The college is very excited to be able to offer a diverse and challenging educational program which is supported by the development of buildings meeting the educational needs of its students,” he said.
Mr Sheumack said the building program for the Village Campus would continue as soon as the stage four works were completed to add a new VCE centre and extensive science centre.
“The college is also continuing to develop and improve its Valley Campus in Pakenham with a major building program planned for the end of this year, which will continue through 2006,” he said.
Mr Sheumack said next year the college would have more than of 2300 students enrolled across both of its campuses.
