GEMCO Players community theatre is stepping back in time to the 1970s, performing the David Williamson classic The Club.
The play premiered on Friday, 11 November and will continue until Saturday, 26 November.
Gemco Players has dedicated the play to the memory of Australian comedy icon Graham Kennedy, who starred in the film version of The Club.
The actors are donning Emerald Football Club’s colours for the play.
The story is about the committee of a football club and the struggles between administration, the coach and the players as they attempt to improve their team by buying players.
But personal conflict gets in the way of resolving the club’s problems as two officials face off over who should be sacked or kept in order to win the elusive premiership flag.
At times hilarious, The Club is full of characters that will be recognised by the audience from local sporting committees.
The play is being held at the Gemco Hall in Kilvington Dr, Emerald for its final performances on Friday, 25 and Saturday, 26 November.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the cost is $15 for adults and $12 for concession card holders.
Bookings are essential and can be made by phoning 5968 2844.
