On Saturday night Daniel won the minimasters event at Rod Laver Arena, held as part of the national Supercross Masters.
In front of a packed stadium, Daniel jumped and manoeuvred himself and his 50cc Honda bike to victory, leaving his opponents in a trail of mud.
“It was a demonstration where you perform good moves,” he said.
“I did a cancan, where your feet go in front of the handlebars and a heel clicker.”
The win lands Daniel the opportunity of a lifetime to compete in the final of the event at Win Stadium in Wollongong, New South Wales at the end of October.
Daniel said he was flying to New South Wales, but wasn’t too sure how his bike was going to make the journey.
“I can probably squeeze it in the seat beside me on the plane,” he said.
Proud dad Alex said Daniel had been riding motorbikes since before his fifth birthday and had not stopped improving.
“He’s doing really well and it’s great to see,” he said.
With mechanics and equipment, Alex said it wasn’t cheap to take part in the sport, but admits it is all worth it.
“Luckily Daniel is still riding his first bike, a 500cc KTM,” he said.
“However when he wins an event at Rod Laver Arena, it’s more than worth it.”
Daniel is a member of both the Blue Rock Motorcycle Club and Nunawading, where he will win the club championships this season.
