THERE were many laughs and a few stories told as 80 past and present Yakkerboo Festival volunteers gathered for a 30year reunion dinner at Pakenham Racecourse last Friday.
Past Queens and Princesses of Yakkerboo were joined by previous committee members and officials in what was a memorable night for all involved.
Former Yakkerboo Festival president Ray Canobie was guest speaker for the night and was delighted to see how the festival had expanded and continued to grow from its humble beginnings 30 years ago.
Guests were also treated to a Power Point presentation of photos from the 30 years the festival has been running, and a cake celebrating the 30th birthday of Yakkerboo.
Volunteer Joan Vogels described the night as special and hoped a similar night would occur in 10 years’ time.
“It was a night of great times with people laughing and chatting whilst reminiscing about previous Yakkerboo festivals,” she said.
The reunion dinner marked the beginning of the successful Yakkerboo Festival, which continued throughout the weekend providing enjoyment for all who attended the various events around Pakenham.
