TOP horsemen and women from around Australia will be at Kooweerup for the 11th annual Duntay Gelding Stakes.
The event, from 5 to 7 January, will be held at the Duntay arena, where competitors will vie for an estimated $20,000 in prize money and trophies.
Judges this year will be Richard Prew from Queensland and Bryon Young from Victoria.
The event is organised by the Kooweerup Cutting Club.
Club spokesman Bob Wheatley said this year there would be a special prize of a yearling filly, Sheza Handy Diva, donated by West Glen Pastoral Co from Glenrowan.
The filly will be awarded to the highestscoring nonpro in the feature event, the Duntay Gelding Stakes.
“We also have a full program of events this year. Some of previous winners will be competing once again,” Mr Wheatley said.
“We will also have western saddlery and clothing stores and displays of horse floats.”
Kooweerup Lions Club will cater for the event.
Mr Wheatley thanked sponsors including TGS Sand and Soil, the Royal Hotel Kooweerup, Edward’s Ford and West Gippsland Fertisiler, Ponderosa Timber, Kooweerup Stockfeed and the Gazette for their support.
