THE Berwick HPV and Cycling Club, now the Casey Cardinia HPV and Cycling Club, has won the prestigious Bicycle Achievement Award.
Club committee members Terry Trevena and Clare de Kok travelled to Sydney’s Olympic Park to accept the award which was presented during the National Bicycling Australia dinner in Sydney.
Ms de Kok said the national award was for all the kids and families who had been involved in cycling throughout the Casey Cardinia area.
She said the club had a strong association with many schools in the area as well as individuals.
“We are about getting kids to get active, riding a bike, racing a HPV or exploring mountain bike tracks,” she said.
“We do it all.”
Vic Health funded the club this year, which meant many children were able to gain access to bike education, qualified coaches and organised events.
Ms de Kok said the club hoped that next year it would increase the amount of events it was involved in.
