PAKENHAM woman Marjorie White celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday.
Family and friends came out in force to help Mrs White celebrate the milestone at the Ron Andrews Nursing Home in Pakenham.
One of eight children, Mrs White was born in England in 1906 and as a child lived in The Old Mill House, background of the book of the same title by Paul McCusker.
At 15 she left home to works as a housemaid, then later worked as a waitress in London.
She married and had two children, Dennis and Jean, before moving from England to Australia when her husband, Douglas Lock, died.
She was married three times in Australia to Jack, Arthur and Allan, and lived in Melbourne, Bairnsdale and Queensland.
Family said her interests over the years have included gardening, knitting, embroidery and playing Bingo.
She also enjoyed her many cups of tea, and fish and chips.
Mrs White received letters of congratulations from Queen Elizabeth and the Australian Government.
