Tom Scanlan (left) and Alan Poulton could not have dreamt they would ever sit in such a modern and wellequipped fire attack vehicle when they joined up to fight town fires.TWO Berwick Fire Brigade members, Tom Scanlan and Alan Poulton, have 99 years’ Country Fire Authority service between them.
Tom has been a member for 54 years and Alan for 45.
Things have changed a lot since they were young firefighters, but the men have moved with the times and still provide a service to the brigade and community.
The Gazette this week features the volunteer brigade now moving toward its 80th birthday on Saturday 1 July.
