GARFIELD Netball Club’s Agrade team, although defeating Sale by 32 goals on Saturday, needed a bigger margin to cement a place in the top three.
Jade Dawes played a tough, tight defensive game and gave the Sale goalers a challenge for the entire game.
Julie Collis and Susie Papley were instrumental in the centre, giving their usual drive and speed when required, while Bess Henry found her feet as a goaler and proved her versatility once again.
Jo Collis played an exceptional game and adapted to several positions with her usual dedication.

The Sale side started the match much stronger than the Garfield team and the Stars were unable to regain the lead for the entire game.
Helen Collis and Emma Marsh played a strong, physical game and were challenged continually by their tough opponents.
Jackie Collis allowed space and freedom in the goal circle with her intelligent play and positioning. Lisa Cowburn dominated the play in the last quarter and Di Collis displayed another great performance in defence and was responsible for many interceptions and turnovers.
This game proved to be good match to prepare the team for its finals campaign.

Garfield’s Sammy Barr played a strong, smart defensive game, Danae Jolly proved her value, swapping from her usual position and proving to be a formable defence player.
Cassy Robson applied speed to the midcourt prior to being utilised in defence where she played a strong game.
Becky Hower and Kareena Miller combined together well in the goals, giving the team a strong, goaling duo.

The team is constantly improving due to determined efforts and development of skills by the side at training.
Beth Bogart and Josie Johnston demonstrated determination and leading throughout the midcourt to set up some accurate passing into the goalers.
Kelly McMillan played another tight defensive game and is developing into a strong defender.

Garfield played an excellent game against top side Sale.
Hayley Wright played in a number of positions and proved once again that she is a capable and talented player.
Kassie Burge provided strength and leadership in the defence end, while Jessie Scamporlino played another exceptional game for the Stars.
Katie O’Dea has developed into strong attacking player and moved well and passed accurately, despite strong opposition.

Sale had a very tall team that made it difficult for Garfield and the seven goals scored were exceptional, with accurate shooting by Meg Bogart and Narelle Van Der Pas.
Brittany Taylor put in another great effort as goal defence and goalkeeper. Ruby Collis moved well and delivered the passes into the goal ring with ease.
Lucy Wheeler and Tegan Chick held up the defence end, despite the height of their opposing players. Emma Masal also helped by remaining in the front position to receive the ball.
