GARFIELD Netball Club’s Agrade side fought hard, but went down to a strong Drouin by 31 goals on Saturday.
Julie Collis, sister, Jo and Susie Papley overcame a strong attacking side in the midcourt by using speed and agility.
Lisa Biffen’s pressure and perseverance on the goal attack created many turnovers.
Scores: Garfield 22 lost to Drouin 53.

B GRADE

Garfield got off to a good start, but the game got away in the second quarter and it was unable to narrow the margin despite excellent individual performances.
Lisa Cowburn and Helen Collis defended strongly, never giving up and helping to bring the ball down to the attacking end.
Dianne Collis showed her versatility by playing goal shooter and goal defender in different quarters to give the team a muchneeded lift and Casey Dawes was one of the team’s principle defenders.
Scores: Garfield 41 lost to Drouin 64.

C GRADE

Garfield was unable to compete against the strong and attacking Drouin side.
Despite changes throughout all quarters, Drouin’s lead became harder to match.
Hannah Burns played an excellent game in wing defence, intercepting to create turnovers and presenting herself for many passes.
Scores: Garfield 17 lost to Drouin 42.
Awards: Garfield Hotel Natalie Van Der Pas; Blockbuster – Hannah Burns; Shapes Gym – Kareena Miller.

17 AND UNDER

Despite the scoreboard, Garfield ended the game with many positive outcomes.
Renae Wright moved well in defence in the second half and limited her players’ running game.
Beth Bogart moved well in centre with hands on everything and created many intercepts with Teagan Edwards backing up and trying continually all day.
Scores: Garfield 11 lost to Drouin 52.
Awards: Best on Court – Renae Wright; Blockbuster –Beth Bogart; Hungry Jack’s – Teagan Edwards.

15 AND UNDER

With a tough opposition, Drouin had a good start with both Katie O’Dea running strongly through the midcourt and Jessie Scamporlino passing brilliantly into Bianca Collis whose shooting was superb.
Hayley Wright and Kassie Burge both played excellent games in defence against the tall and accurate Drouin shooters, both rebounding strongly.
Scores: Garfield 13 lost to Drouin 36.

13 AND UNDER

The team tried hard all day, but was outclassed by a much taller side.
Narelle Van Der Pas, Meg Bogart and Bec Singleton all worked well in the attack with Narelle shooting a long bombed goal right on the siren.
Tamara Monson ran continually for all four quarters playing in the centre and in wing defence, stopping lots of passes and making position for players to pass the ball.
Gabby Walker also played a great game always trying hard and is a valuable defensive player.
Scores: Garfield 9 lost to Drouin 26.
