THE 2005 Kids Fun Run with Thomas promises to be even bigger and better than the last three very successful fun runs with something for all ages and interests, according to organisers.
To be held on 16 October, the event will also incorporate a family day program of festivities as well as Fun Runs with Thomas and Puffing Billy.
The annual Kids Fun Run with Thomas attracts hundreds of children and their families with the promise of running alongside the colourful tank engine as it travels the scenic countryside of Gembrook.
Children up to 12 years old are invited to join in one of four agedbased fun runs.
Each runner receives a certificate and showbag, and all entries go into a draw to win a family holiday, as well as many other spot prizes.
All profits for the day will again be donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The event is organised jointly by the Rotary Club of Emerald and District, the Gembrook Township Committee and Puffing Billy Railway.
Chairman of the organising committee John Shaw said research following the 2004 event identified how appreciative families were of the unique opportunity that allowed their children to run alongside Thomas or Puffing Billy.
“Many families had two or more children entered with younger brothers and sisters eager to join a future Fun Run.
“This illustrates that Thomas holds a special place in children’s hearts,” he said.
“Families also said they wanted to make the event a full day out, so activities have been expanded and will include a free games spectacular in the park.”
Children are urged to register prior to the day.
Registration forms are available by calling 9754 3282.
