TWENTY of Berwick’s finest young women are in the running to represent Berwick in the Australian Grand Prix Grid Girls Competition.
The winner of Berwick’s Australian Grand Prix grid girl competition will represent Berwick in the Australian Grand Prix Grid Girl competition this year.
The girls will compete for that honour and thousands of dollars worth of prizes at the Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce Gala Fund Raising Night on Tuesday, 14 March.
The evening will he held at the Central Star Auto Haus Mercedes Benz showroom.
Chamber president Michael Hall said the chamber was grateful for the support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation in giving the winner of the Berwick competition entry to the final squad of grid girls.
Mr Hall said this would be part of the main event, the Australian Formula One Grand Prix, on Sunday, 2 April.
“The AGP has been most supportive of our fundraising event, even though we are not running the street festival this year,” he said.
“We intend, however, to raise enough funds on the night to help us put on a bigger and better show next year.
“We want to make the grand prix festival a fixture on the calendar of events for the southeastern region, where, incidentally there is strong support for F1 and motor sport in general.
“Guests at this actionpacked fun night for the cream of Berwick’s business and professional people will hear from touring car legend and four times Australian Touring Car Champion, Allan Moffatt.
“They will also take part in the excitement of a memorabilia auction featuring rare and valuable collectables such as a hat from the inaugural Berwick Grand Prix Festival 2005.
“The hat is autographed by former Ferrari teammates Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.
“The 20 grid girls represent the cream of a very talented field and will be a major feature of the night, with the girls being involved in welcoming and hosting the guests during the night.
“Guests will judge the girls by popular vote.”
