Garfield’s Don Knight in action for the division six section three team.
GARFIELD’S division two team suffered a heartbreaking loss against Traralgon by 25 shots on Saturday to make its hopes for the final four difficult.
The division six section two team had a solid win over Warragul (5) by 9 shots to cement its place in the top three, while the division six section three lost to Warragul (4) by 9 shots.
In division two, the scores were Stephen Whyte, Stephen Bassed, Tom Cleary and Ray Biffin lost to R McEwan 1625. Les Pumphrey, Hank Woulters, Russell Bruce and Frank Prins tied with C. Drosen 2525. Jim Oliver, Shane Oliver, Bob Lamport and Malcolm Shaw lost to P. Reid 1631. Colin Mills, Stu Robertson, Reg Mattingley and Colin Carmichael lost to I. Chase 2324.
Garfield division six section two scores were Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Bill Charles and Bill Doherty lost to R. Saunders 1422. Alex Mentiplay, Geoff Gaskell, Wayne Gunton and Matthew Smith defeated G. Heywood 3413.
Garfield division six section three scores were Gordon Beer, Keith Sainsbery, Barrie Smith and Wes Goodman lost to D. Grogan 1921. Les Shatwell, Don Knight, John Rose and Adrian Helmuth lost to W. Biscombe 2128.

The Garfield ladies team had a great win over Yarragon to ensure a finals berth, winning by 5 shots.
Scores were Rose Shaw, Joan Garvey, Joan Donovan and Margaret Charles lost by 14 shots. Eleanor Lee, Judy Prentice, Bev Sainsbery and Fay Carmichael lost by 1 shot.
However Lyn Oliver’s team won by 20 shots to overcome the other two losses.
The team was Lyn Oliver, Pat Marriott, Bill Charles and Maureen Lamport.
The ladies finals will be played at Yallourn on 27 February.
