BUNYIPborn band Direct Influence will come home to launch their latest EP Herbal Ninja.
The band, newly signed with Long Beach Records, Australia, is playing at the Bunyip Bottom Pub on Friday, 22 December.
The launch will also double as a Christmas party and feature support from Warragul band Elsewhere.
Originating from Bunyip, Direct Influence has been playing shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, Brisbane and many other venues across eastern Australia.
Band member Lachie Ross said it had been six months since Direct Influence last played in their home area.
Recently named as one of Triple J Unearthed’s feature artists, Direct Influence brings a soulful energy to its live shows, winning many new fans. With a unique blend of traditional reggae, spacey dub and rugged hiphop, it is difficult to find a Direct Influence show without a pumping dance floor.
Direct Influence has previously released a debut EP, Finally (recorded with the legendary reggae maestro Nikki Bomba), named for the amount of time it took to be release.
Finally was met with rave reviews and earned the boys a strong following in the Melbourne music scene.
The band has since added a saxophonist to its musical artillery and has rocked some of Melbourne’s finest establishments, including a capacity crowd at The Corner, headlining shows at the Espy and the Evelyn, a residency at Revolver Upstairs, and a highlight soldout show at Storey Hall.
