Hot golf wins Beaconhills Summer Cup

SIXTEENS pairs qualified, but it was Mal Chambers and Ian Matthews who became the proud winners of the 2006 Summer Cup at Beaconhills Country Golf Club on Saturday.
The event is a fourballbestball handicap knockout event played since 1982 in honour of longtime member Len Thomas.
Mal and Ian defeated runnersup Lachlan Wright and Mick Borthwick 2/1.
The rest of the field played Ambrose fours.
Paul Blundell, Ken Wallace, Wayne Davey and John Nash combined with flair to win the day with an amazing nett 48 1/2.
The team closest to them was Steve Miranda, Charlie Miranda, Jim Kelly and R. Shaw, with 50 6/8.

Peter McArthur’s 45 points won Agrade, while Ray Clode secured Bgrade on a countback with 39 points.

On Thursday, a morning and afternoon field enjoyed meeting for a Christmas dinner in the clubhouse, hosted by president Doug Eastick.
Russell D’Arcy and Neil Gardner were A and Bgrade winners respectively, sharing the score of 43 points.

Christmas was also the theme on ladies’ day Wednesday.
Many colourful costumes took to the field to enjoy nine holes of golf, followed by Christmas camaraderie in the clubhouse.
