House to get a modern touch

EMERALD Community House will get a welcome facelift under a $50,000 Modernising Neighbourhood Houses grant.
The grant was announced last week by Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato.
“The funding boost will enable the offices of Emerald Community House to be modernised and very importantly to create a new street access which will allow people with disabilities to access the facility,” Ms Lobato said.
“Emerald Community House has been a vital part of the community for 28 years but it now needs to be upgraded.”
Ms Lobato said the present storeroom at the house had leakage problems.
Repairs and the creation of extra storage space will allow teaching areas to be freed up for classes.
“Neighbourhood houses give people a chance to develop new skills, meet new people and pursue new recreational opportunities in their local community,” Ms Lobato said.
“They connect people with their communities, offering the opportunity to meet other people in the local area and learn new skills, and Emerald Community House has been a local leader in doing just that.”
