A BERWICK hairdresser is a cut above the rest after being announced one of three finalists in the ‘Logies’ of hairdressing.
Rebecca Campbell is up for the 2006 Men’s Hairdresser of the Year Award in the prestigious Australian Hair Fashion Awards to be held in Sydney in March.
Rebecca’s collection of six photos titled The Chelsea Groove were judged one of three potential winners by a panel of renowned UK hairdressers in London.
The associate senior stylist at Stylemakers in Berwick was over the moon at being selected.
Rebecca found out last week after entering the photos at the end of October.
“I had to do it on a low budget. I did all the dressing and styling myself,” she said.
Local photographer Johl Dunn shot the set of black and white photos.
“They had a bit of a London street theme,” Rebecca said.
The models she used included her brother, Jase, partner, Jason, and a number of clients.
Rebecca said she was looking forward to the awards, a glamorous black-tie event at the Sydney Town Hall.
“It’s going to be awesome. I can’t wait,” she said.
“The AHF Awards are the Logies of hairdressing.”
Rebecca said she had full support from her workplace to enter competitions and often took part in hair shows.
Rebecca, 26, has lived in Berwick all her life and started hairdressing when she was 16.
She has worked with Stylemakers for more than 10 years.
