HEAD of John Holland Group Janet Holmes a Court said a major benefit from the Eastlink Freeway project would be thousands of jobs for people in the City of Casey.
John Holland Group is one of the major companies building the freeway.
Mrs Holmes a Court was guest speaker at the Casey Business Development Group (CBDG) annual meeting and dinner at Clover Cottage on Monday night.
She said Casey had a large population, but most residents worked outside the municipality.
She said the Eastlink project would generate about 70,000 jobs during the building process and intensify industry along the corridor.
“Small business will benefit from the flow down coming from big business as it arrives,” Mrs Holmes a Court said.
“The City of Casey in the next few years will be big on people, jobs, and infrastructure.
“This is a fantastic place to live and we hope to make it a fantastic place to work.” (See My View, page 22).
Members of the newlyelected CBDG committee are chair Michelle Hext of Purposeful Life, treasurer John Flanigan of Mortgage Finance Services, secretary Isobel Caulfield of Berwick Boarding Kennels and Cattery, Darren Zappa of Compuzed, Richard Baker of Casey Business Guide, Chris Hext of 1 Step Communication, Matt Eno of Eno Technology, and Yelka Jurinovic of Elegant Occasions.
