OFFICER Auskick hit the hallowed turf of the MGC in an AFL grid game recently with 12 seven and eightyearold players enjoying the rare opportunity of stepping on to the ground to play on the MCG.
It was an overcast day but the enthusiasm was high and the players were led under the MCG to prepare during the first term of the Melbourne versus Port Adelaide match. They ran through a banner on to the ground at the halftime break and enjoyed their experience in front of 28,000 people and to the cheers of their parents on the sidelines.
The opportunity to kick, handball and bounce the ball was a thrill and the Auskickers highfived the crowd as they left the field.
