LOOKING for a lowcost way to spend the school holidays?
Bestsellers cost nothing at Pakenham library.
There are also plenty of fun activities planned to keep children entertained.
The John Street library offers free membership and internet access.
The holiday program includes stories and rhymes, a treasure hunt and a chance to meet Toddlepot the magical musical pixie.
Pakenham’s library is part of the CaseyCardinia Library Corporation.
Customer services manager Pru Menzies said local libraries recently celebrated Library and Information Week with a host of activities.
“These activities demonstrate the vital role of public libraries to promote a free flow of information and share their expertise to help library members achieve their lifelong learning goals,” she said.
The six branch libraries in the CaseyCardinia corporation and Cardinia Mobile Library are open for a total of 325 hours per week.
Collectively an average of 19,800 visitors borrow 42,000 items and ask 1400 questions each week while 384 children attend free activities.
“Libraries link people,” Ms Menzies said.
