PAKENHAM seniors produced a strong last quarter to run away from Narre Warren to win by 20 points on Saturday.
The Lions, with running and possessionwinning football, burst out of the starting blocks to go into the first break with a 20point lead.
However, Narre Warren swung the momentum back in its favour, taking control for the next two quarters, pegging the margin back to just three points at halftime and then went into the last break leading by five.
The game could have gone either way in the last quarter, but Pakenham’s fitness shone through to kick four goals to nil.
Simon Ponter was again the shining light up forward, taking many contested marks and finishing the day with five majors. He was ably supported up forward by Daniel Fry and lively Beau Wheeler who both contributed three goals each.
At the other end of the ground, Joel Padley and Joe Allen played great defensive games.
Justin Sutherland controlled the ruck and gave the onballers plenty of opportunities while Lincoln Withers played an excellent game.
The Lions have another tough game this week against Doveton.
Scores: Pakenham 17.9.111 d Narre Warren 13.13.91.

After kicking against the wind in the first quarter the Lions were right in the contest, being only nine points down.
However, the Magpies showed their class to run out comfortable victors by nearly 10 goals.
Highlight of the game for Pakenham was the effort put in by under18 regular Jon Higgins who played an excellent brand of team football.
The side now needs to win every game until the end of the season to keep its finals aspirations alive.
The club wished Gerard Atkins a speedy recovery from his injury.

Due to school representative matches Pakenham was again undermanned and completely outclassed, going down by 30 goals.
Chris McKinlay continued his good form and for consecutive weeks was adjudged best on ground, while the reliable Josh Howe and Chris Higgins also played credible games.
Narre Warren players who filled in for the Lions to make up the numbers were thanked.
Scores: Pakenham 1.1.7 lost to Narre Warren 27.28.190.
