A GOOD deed a day is the lifeblood of the good ladies of the CWA.
Pakenham Country Women’s Association members have already notched up more good works in the community than they can count.
Some of the group’s achievements have been highlighted this week in a display at Pakenham Library.
CWA branch president Chris Johnson said the past 12 months had been a “big year of little things”.
“We have had a lot of smaller projects,” she said.
“We’ve targeted what was needed in places where our help goes, particularly developing countries in the Pacific.
“We’ve donated sewing needles, haberdashery items, knitted beanies and blankets.
“The money we raise stays in Pakenham and goes to local charities.”
A recent miniCommonwealth Games day was attended by CWA members from the West Gippsland region, with people voting it one of the best social days ever.
As well as monthly meetings, branch members meet every second Wednesday at somebody’s house for a social gettogether.
“It’s always warm and welcoming,” Mrs Johnson said.
Pakenham CWA has about a dozen members, with more most welcome.
The branch meets on the first Wednesday of each month at the guide hall in Henry Street.
