THE postman won’t have to ring twice in Kooweerup Greg Roberts already has the door open.
Mr Roberts is the proud operator of the nation’s newest Australia Post and Tattersalls outlets, which are key features of his newlyrelocated newsagency outlet.
The Kooweerup Newsagency recently moved to Station Street, taking over the site formerly occupied by the PMP Print administration centre.
Mr Roberts is among several local businesspeople leading the way as the town aims to bounce back from the shock loss earlier this year of the PMP Print operation, its biggest employer.
“We’re showing confidence and faith in the town,” Mr Roberts said.
“We’re certainly here for the long haul.
“We moved a week ago and the response from the community had been absolutely fantastic.”
Mr Roberts grew up in the town and worked at the newsagency as a ‘paper boy’.
He said the move from Rossiter Road was taking the business close to its original home, giving it a bigger profile as well as improved access for community members.
Staff and supporters celebrated the move at an official launch party on Monday evening.
Mr Roberts said the newsagency’s operating hours meant Australia Post customers could pay bills and access a full range of postal services six days a week, including Saturdays.
At the time the Gazette went to print, the newsagency was yet to sell a division onewinning ticket in Tattslotto, but Mr Roberts said he was keeping fingers crossed.
