
GIPPSLAND Storm State League Netball Club’s 15-and-under team came from behind to win an exciting grand final at Waverley Netball Centre, Jells Park last weekend.
The squad, coached by mother-and-son combination Jenny and Travis Burridge from Pakenham, played its way to victory against Ferntree Gully, winning the grand final by three goals.
Storm, undefeated during the season, came up against a determined 15-and-under squad from Ferntree Gully and maintained a slender lead in the first quarter.
Simple mistakes were costly in the second quarter and Ferntree Gully seized the opportunity and ran out to an eight-goal lead at half time.
In the second half the Storm started to claw its way back into the game by putting pressure on the Ferntree Gully defence, rattling the opposition.
Jenna Noonan and her teammates lifted their work rate in the midcourt and Corrina Proctor in goals started shooting accurately from all positions around the ring.
The Storm came from behind in the final term to record an exciting 30-27 win with Corrina Proctor named best on court.
