A STRONG batting performance of 282 by Officer’s A-grade team on Saturday sees it well placed in its game against Merinda Park.
Officer won the toss and was 1/10 after 10 overs with Ben Tivendale making 32 including two big sixes – one on the roof of the clubhouse.
Steve McIntyre was also in good form with 49, including two sixes. Daniel Savage was 21 not out at tea with Steve McIntyre 34 not out. Daniel Savage made 73, including two sixes and had an 80-run stand with Steve McIntyre for the fourth wicket.
Colin Tucker made an excellent 59 not out with some aggressive play including four fours and a six.
Brett Reid again provided good support with 32, putting on 77 for the eighth wicket with Colin Tucker.
On a fairly slow ground this was another good batting performance by Officer.
C GRADE
Officer bowled first against Catani on a small ground and did well to restrict the opposition to 195.
James Quinn took 4/34 from 21.4 overs, Jason Hester took 2/62 and beat the bat many times as did James Quinn with both having catches dropped.
Paul Simon snared 3/43 off 13 overs and Brent Pullen 1/9 off four overs and Pat Tucker took two catches behind the stumps.
Officer is 0/3 at stumps and well positioned going into this week’s run chase.
E GRADE
Officer, at home, tackled Tooradin and dismissed it for 298. Richard Adams bowled another good spell for 4/25 off eight overs of good pace bowling.
Steve Letthead took 1/46 from 12 overs and Gavin Boon 1/89, but was unlucky due to some dropped catches.
Adam Reid had 1/28 off five overs and Ben Adams 1/43 off 11 overs.
F GRADE
Officer won by four wickets against Upper Beaconsfield. Officer made 6/159 to Upper Beaconsfield’s 8/131.
With the ball, Steve Darcon with 2/18 off six overs bowled tightly as did Scott Nicholson’s 1/12 off six overs.
David Calderbella had 1/23 off six overs with the new ball and Adam Cooke 1/25.
Paul Dorey had 1/30 off five overs and Andrew Stevenson 1/13, Rob Burns took 1/11 off 1.4 overs.
Officer was 2/54 off 15 overs due to Andrew Stevenson scoring 44 opening the batting and Steve Darcon 12 and Tim Anderson 15 providing good support.
Paul Dorey hit the ball hard in his 48 not out, belting five fours, Jason Nicholson was eight not out with Rob Burns seven at the end of Officer’s 35 overs.
UNDER 16
Officer had to defend 68 against a strong Beaconsfield side that made 6/196 with Matt Cooper 0/15 off eight overs bowling a quick and accurate spell without luck.
Mitch Wilson had a hand in two run outs with a good performance in the field.
Aaron Creek took 1/31 and Stephen Van Boxtel 1/25 from five overs. Jayden Bell combined with Matt Cooper for a run-out and Herrod Bowman took a catch.
Twenty-five wides and no balls combined didn’t help Officer’s cause.
UNDER 14
Officer tackled Beaconsfield Eagles that made 91 all out to Officer’s 38.
Richard Manley took 2/10 off five overs at first change. Nathan Carruthers took 2/14 also off five overs.
Tom Marks starred with 3/3 off four overs, including two wickets in an over. Ben Martin had 1/5 off four overs and a catch for a good all-round effort.
Lucas Hunter had 1/4 and Xavier Quigley and Nathan Carruthers a catch each.
UNDER 12
Officer made 83 against Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll’s 180. Steve Dillon showed great form with 24, Jake Tivendale 11 and Craig Marshall was unbeaten on 13.
