PAKENHAM Bowls Club rolled back into action in the first round of the Royal Victorian Bowls Association season and returned with some impressive results.
The first side defeated South Oakleigh by 29 shots, 112 to 83.
The second side won a thriller against Berwick by four shots, 93 to 89.
Narre Warren was no match for the Pakenham third side, losing by 27 shots, 99 to 72.
Keysborough fell over the line at the Pakenham fourth side on the last end of the day, winning 92 to 96.
The Pakenham fifth side had the hard task of travelling to Ferntree Gully and could not find winning form, going down by a disappointing 51 shots, 74 to 125.
Saturdays fixture for round two of the RVBA:
Pakenham (1) hosts Vermont South.
Pakenham (2) hosts Mulgrave Country Club.
Pakenham (3) travels to Mount Waverley.
Pakenham (4) travels to Berwick.
Pakenham (5) hosts UpweyTecoma.
LADIES
The first day of mixed triples for the new season was washed out on Thursday, 5 October.
On Friday, 6 October round one of VLBA competition 21up was played.
Round two 21up to be played Friday, 13 October, VLBA pennant, round one, 10 October, Wednesday, 11 October Geoff Morriss Triples, 10.30am start. Thursday, 12 October mixed social bowls, 1pm start. Mufti dress. Monday, 16 October bowls meeting at 10am.
