
A FIVEwicket haul from paceman Doug Louden has given Devon Meadows Agrade side the chance of its first win of the season after dismissing Pakenham Upper/Toomuc for 221 on Saturday.
The Panthers got off to a flying start when Louden took his first wicket with his second ball of the day. His second and third wickets followed soon after and the Yabbies were in trouble at 3/29.
The home side steadied and a resilient 82run fourthwicket stand was broken by Travis Canavan (1/30) in the 33rd over.
Peter Zauner’s (3/67 off 24 overs) brilliant line and length was finally rewarded with three quick wickets and Louden’s reintroduction netted him a further two wickets to finish with 5/55 off 22 overs.
Darren Morrow (1/41) claimed his first wicket for Devon Meadows to wrap up the innings, the Panthers claiming the final six wickets for 59 runs.
Darren O’Brien showed his versatility, accepting five catches behind the stumps while deputising for his brother.
Daniel Steet and Michael Cloutter will resume the innings this week with the score 0/4.

Luke Wishart took 4/43 to help the Panthers bowl out Gembrook for 143.
Wishart and Neil Baker (2/38) tore through home side’s top order and with the able support of Mick Floyd (1/19), Luke Marrow (1/6) and Lincoln Hepburn (1/14), kept the home side to a moderate total.
The visitors’ run chase could have been much lower however had it not been for several dropped catches.
With eight overs to face, Glen Fairbrother and his brother Mark guided the Panthers to nine without loss at stumps.

Devon Meadows’ juniors helped put the Panthers in a powerful position against Gembrook at Glover Reserve.
Two early wickets to Brett Vance (2/38) got the innings off to a flying start, but from there the Panther junior brigade stole the show with Luke Howard (1/44), Daniel Marascia (3/25) and Chris Morrell (1/23) sharing the spoils.
Justin Mentiplay also took two wickets (2/33) and Gembrook was all out for 185.

The Panthers continued their charge up the ladder with a narrow win over Clyde.
Peter Dunkley compiled a 19run picket fence on his way to 39, while Rori Woodman (37), Brent Clinnick (21), Scott Young (16), Trav Mohr (15) and Jess Dehey (14) reached double figures as Devon Meadows was dismissed for 169.
In defence, Allan Tibballs took 3/34 and Brendan Smith 3/25 to help dismiss Gembrook for 162. Woodman (2/17) and Clinnick (1/28) also took wickets.

Devon Meadows is in a powerful position against KilcundaBass after dismissing the home side for 65.
Fine early spells from Luke Howard (1/4), Daniel Marascia (1/6) and Jarryd Harley (1/4) reduced the home side to 3/10, but KilcundaBass steadied to reach 3/42 at drinks.
It took a runout to break the dangerous fourthwicket stand and from there Ben Hussey (4/7), Bradon Mackie (2/4) and Hayden Enlund (1/14) ripped through the home side’s lower order, taking the final six wickets for just four runs.
Enlund and Marascia both took excellent catches in a polished display in the field.
The Panthers received a setback with three overs to face, losing Arthur Churchill lbw and will resume at 1/4 on Saturday.

Best batsmen for the day included Reds’ James Saunders (10), David Batchelor (10), David Hussey (9) and Whites’ Lucas Sharpe (7). Best bowlers were Andrew Proctor for the Whites with 28 and Shane Bajger with 210 for the Red team. Great catches were taken by Thomas Sannen and Andrew Proctor.

The Panthers got off to a flying start in its Kookaburra Cup Twenty20 campaign, securing a bonus point against Cranbourne Meadows at a lighteningfast Glover Reserve on Sunday.
Peter Zauner bowled superbly to claim 4/18 off his four overs and wickets to Doug Louden (2/24) and Mick Floyd (1/41) restricted the Rebels to a challenging 7/171.
In reply, the Panthers lost Luke Marrow on the third ball of the day and Steet in the second over to be struggling early at 2/17.
Louden blasted 26 off just nine balls, but when he was dismissed the game was again in the balance with the score 3/47 in the fourth over.
Darren O’Brien and Travis Canavan not only steadied the innings, but accelerated to erase the deficit in the 14th over.
O’Brien scored a superb 56 off 30 balls, while Canavan began slowly before blasting six sixes to finish on 68 off just 37 deliveries.
