GEMBROOKCockatoo’s hard man Steve Pantorno joined the 300game club last weekend against traditional rival Monbulk.

Pantorno’s path with Gembrook started when he was an 18yearold in 1992.
In his early years Pantorno built his reputation as an onballer in the senior side after having established himself as a prolific goalkicker through his junior years.
Pantorno rates exGembrook player and good mate Carl Firrito as being one of his influential mentors, along with junior coaches Dick Wingard and Geoff Shipp.
In the mid1990s Pantorno moved into the back line, where he became a renowned and rugged defender feared by all opponents.
When Gembrook was relegated to YVMDFL second division in 1996 Pantorno was instrumental in rallying other local players in an effort to bring the club back into first division, which they did in the premiership year of 2000.
In 2003 Pantorno was recognised for his service and dedication to the club when he was awarded life membership, which is one of his treasured awards. Pantorno is now vicepresident of the club.
Pantorno, a dual premiership player and former captain, rates Olinda veteran Tim Scott as his hardest opponent over the years.
